Legal note & caveats

F.S. 775.215 sets a 1,000 ft floor for offenders whose victim was under 16: no residence within 1,000 ft of a school, child-care facility, park, or playground. Cities and counties can (and do) layer on stricter ordinances — commonly 1,500–2,500 ft, sometimes adding libraries, school bus stops, and "places where children congregate."

Always confirm with the local sheriff before relying on this. OSM coverage is not exhaustive: many private day cares and church preschools are missing, and "bus stop" data is general transit, not the official school-bus list (counties rarely publish that).

Distances are point-to-point from OSM centroids/geometry; statutes typically measure parcel-edge to parcel-edge, so for large schools or parks the real exclusion zone may extend further than shown.
